Crop Hunting Drones Help Police Bust Illegal Drug Farms
In UK Lincolnshire, Police entered a residential property on December 21 and discovered multiple rooms with various cannabis plants at different stages of growth. The investigation is still ongoing as no one was apprehended and this proves the importance of drones in fighting crime. According to the police thermal imaging from the drones was used to scope out the entire residential area at night and identifying high amounts of heat and light that is required to grow the weed. As the temperatures at night begin to drop, a drone fitted with a thermal imaging sensor can pick up on properties emitting unusual amounts of heat quite easily. In another incident in South-West London, enforcement officers used a drone to uncover a huge plantation of 150 cannabis plants. The plants were found on disused private land near Berrylands railway station in Kingston Thames.
